## Learning Journey

Students build one of the [three capstone projects](../project-ideas.md) throughout the term. Each
lesson teaches a skill and ends with a capstone checkpoint so that teams leave every session with
visible progress.

| Lesson | Topic | Capstone checkpoint |
|---|---|---|
| [1](lesson-1-html-landing-page.md) | Create a landing page with HTML | Page structure and project content |
| [2](lesson-2-css-styling.md) | Add CSS to beautify your page | A consistent visual design |
| [3](lesson-3-advanced-html-css.md) | Advanced HTML/CSS concepts | An accessible, responsive layout |
| [4](lesson-4-javascript-fundamentals.md) | JavaScript functions, loops, and more | Project data rendered with JavaScript |
| [5](lesson-5-website-interactivity.md) | Add interactivity to your website | A working user interaction |
| [6](lesson-6-apis-and-fetch.md) | APIs and fetching internet data | External data with loading and error states |
| [7](lesson-7-git-and-github.md) | Version control with Git and GitHub | A shared repository with team commits |
| [8](lesson-8-deployment.md) | Deploy web applications | A tested, public GitHub Pages site |

## Suggested Routine

Each lesson follows the same rhythm:

1. **Connect** the topic to a real product and career.
2. **Learn** one small set of concepts with a facilitator.
3. **Build** through a guided activity.
4. **Apply** the skill to the team's capstone.
5. **Reflect** with an exit ticket and save all work.

Students can begin in [CodePen](https://codepen.io/pen) without an account. In Lesson 7, teams move
their work into a free GitHub repository and use that repository to deploy in Lesson 8.

## Facilitator Preparation

- Read the lesson and test every link from the school network.
- Keep a completed example and screenshots available in case the internet fails.
- Pair students when devices are limited and rotate the person typing.
- Use placeholder content rather than students' personal details.
- Never put passwords, API keys, private data, or identifying student information in source code.
- Reserve the final 20–25 minutes for the capstone checkpoint.
